The Louisville Women’s Sports Network met with the Jessica Yared as she led her FIT4MOM class at King Louie’s Sports Complex – a fitness class for moms and babies.
Jessica Yared teaches stroller strides for FIT4MOM Owl Creek at King Louie’s Sports Complex in Middletown.
Jessica: I work out 6 to 7 days per week. I teach stroller strides here at King Louie’s in Middletown. Then on my off days I run 3 to 5 miles. I’ve always been a big runner. Running is where my heart lies, but since I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how important strength training is for the longevity of any athletic career, so that’s why I love stroller strides so much. It’s the perfect combination of running and strength training.
One thing that Jessica advises, especially to moms, is to always get enough sleep.
Jessica: I think it’s really important to get a good night’s sleep. As moms, we tend to not get enough sleep, so we usually have to adjust our workout accordingly. I also like to have a light, quick meal in the morning, usually a glass of coifer and a banana and then I’m out the door.
For a quick spout of energy, Jessica will drink a shot of beet juice to keep her going through out her day.
Jessica: I love a shot of beet juice for really, quick jolt of healthy energy. I try to stay away from coffee as much as possible, but if I need to I’ll have a small coffee with just a teaspoon of coconut oil.
Jessica’s motivations are her kids and her clients at FIT4MOM Owl Creek.
Jessica: I just want to lead a healthy life and be a good example for my kids. I want to show them how important it is to stay active and I want to be a good example for my clients as well. As moms, sometimes we feel guilty leaving our kids to go to the gym or leaving our husbands, but it’s really important that you take care of yourself before you can take care of others, so I want to show my clients that at stroller strides you can have it all. It’s fitness for mommy and fun for baby.
