ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Spalding University softball’s Alyssa McAfee, Amanda Gilliland and Kaylin Rucker were named to the 2016 SLIAC All-Conference Team Thursday evening at that SLIAC Tournament in Elsah, Ill.
Outfielder Alyssa McAfee was named SLIAC First Team All-Conference. The senior from Palmyra, Ind. ranked 5th in the conference in home runs with four on the season, while batting at a .431 clip with a .724 slugging percentage ranking 9th in the SLIAC. McAfee was impressive once on the bags ranking 2nd in the conference in stolen bases with 10 on the year.
Amanda Gilliland received SLIAC Second Team honors as an at-large bid. Gilliland, a senior catcher from Bloomington, Ind., tallied 25 hits ranking 10th in conference play, while hitting three home runs (12th) and batting in 16 runs, which ranks 14th in the SLIAC.
Kaylin Rucker, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., was named SLIAC Third Team All-Conference. The outfielder ended the season with a .379 batting average and .621 slugging percentage. In conference play, Rucker batted in 14 runs and finished with a SLIAC-best six sacrifice hits.
Freshman Mackenzee Sawyer was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which recognizes one individual from each team, selected by his coach and teammates, who throughout the season best displays the ideals of sportsmanship.
