The 2016 Women In Sports Honors (WISH), produced by the Louisville Women’s Sports Network, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Airport. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Open to the public, this second-annual dinner and awards show is the only event of its kind in the city of Louisville – and one of the few like it in the nation – that is strictly dedicated to celebrating the achievements of our city’s female athletes as well as those to contribute to the success of women’s athletics. Kelsi Worrell, 2016 Olympian and current senior at the University of Louisville, will headline the four individual awards to be presented as she will receive the “Athlete of the Year Award”.

Joyce Seymour, longtime director of the Girls’ Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT) and well known in the elite circles of local basketball, will receive the “Legacy Award”. Ron Kordes, President of the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center (OVVC) and 19-time state champion volleyball coach, will receive the “Leadership Award”. The Courage Award will be presented to an athlete who has displayed a journey of courage that serves as a role model for athletes throughout the Louisville sports community. That recipient is to be announced.

In addition, the highly-touted “Play of the Year” will be showcased and fifteen team awards will be presented to the “Outstanding Team of the Year” in each of the KHSAA’s sanctioned sports for girls, including dance and lacrosse. Those recipients are as follows:
