Now that we’ve let the cat out of the bag about the 2016 Women In Sports Honors (WISH), here’s a look at one of the 15 teams that will receive our “Outstanding Team of the Year” award for their respective sport. We’ll cover one team a day, so stay tuned…

Lacrosse Team of the Year: Kentucky Country Day

Kentucky Country Day School’s lacrosse team won its second-straight state title this past spring with a 16-1 victory over Louisville Collegiate School. It was the Bearcats’ fifth state championship in program history and 11th consecutive state championship appearance.

The Bearcats posed a 22-3 overall record, going 11-0 against teams in Kentucky. They were led by 11 seniors, including: Kentucky Miss Lacrosse and two-time Attacker of the Year Madison Mitzlaff; two-time Goalie of the Year Annie Scharf; and two-time Defender of the Year Kendall Jackson.
