In a rivalry match between duPont Manual High School and Louisville Male High School, the Crimson beat the Bulldogs 10-0.
“I feel like we played a great game. We came out to win,” said Brittany Tolan, Manual Head Coach. “We love this rivalry, so it was a big win for us especially on their field.”
In the first half the Manual Crimson were able to score their first goal off a corner by Meredith Wickenheiser with 24:54 left in the first half. The Crimson’s Chloe Hutchins scored the second goal of the evening shortly thereafter. Manual scored one more goal before Male hit their first corner, but the Bulldogs were unable to capitalize, leaving Manual with the 3-0 lead. Manual’s Meela Kopp scored the final goal of the first half with 4:47 left, putting the Crimson up 4-0 as the time expired.
In the second half of action, Manual scored their first goal with 27:57 left in the game and was awarded two corners before the Crimson’s Jordan Thompson scored their sixth goal of the night, increasing the Manual lead to 6-0. Manual’s defense was too much for the Bulldog offense. The Crimson scored two more times before Male could get their second and last corner of the game, but the Bulldogs were still unable again to score off the corner, leaving Manual up 8-0. The last two goals of the game came with under a minute to play to give the Manual Crimson field hockey the 10-0 win.
The Manual Crimson will be back in action on September 15th vs St.Francis at St. Francis and the Male Bulldogs will play vs South Oldham at South Oldham on September 14th.
