NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding University women’s basketball team participated in a gift wrapping event with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana Sunday afternoon at the Ed Endres Boys & Girls Club in New Albany, Ind.

Head Coach Charlie Just along with 15 student-athletes volunteered their time to help brighten the holiday season for nearly 3,000 kids in Louisville and Southern Indiana. The Boys & Girls Club thrives to inspire and enable all young people, especially those most in need of their services, to realize and develop their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The team was very proud and excited to give back to the community. Senior Julie Skaggs summed up the experience saying, “Wrapping presents at the Boys and Girls Club has proven to be one of the more rewarding experiences with the team. It really puts into perspective the meaning of the season and how important giving to others can be. Being able to help create a better Christmas for the boys and girls around the area is a wonderful feeling and we look forward to doing it every year.”

A little over a month into the season, the SU women’s basketball team is off to a 5-1 start. The Golden Eagles play their next two games on the road before returning home to host Transylvania Tuesday, December 20 at 7:00 pm EST.
