Bellarmine dances into finals with outstanding preliminary routine

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.–The Bellarmine University Dance Team turned in an outstanding performance during Thursday morning’s National Dance Alliance National Championship preliminaries to earn a spot in tomorrow’s finals.

“The girls nailed the performance,” said Bellarmine Coach Erin Thompson. “They’ve done everything we’ve asked of them. “We’re so proud of them.”

Bellarmine’s score of 9.033 ranked second overall with last year’s national champs Tamagawa (from Tokyo, Japan) leading after a 9.415.

The 2017 finals are shaping up to be a battle of the last two national champions as Bellarmine took the national title in 2015.

“We are going to be working hard to reach that first place spot. We know we can do it,” said Assistant Coach Janine Klutka, who was the head coach of the 2015 national championship team.

Mercy’s Megan Bryan and Megan Kenney, Ballard’s Allie Gardner, Assumption’s Holly Kirwan, and Manual’s Hannah Nelms are on the team representing the Louisville area.
