Little Flock Christian Academy Blog (week two)

Brian Simpson is the parent of a player on the Little Flock Christian Academy basketball team and is going to do a weekly blog post about the team. If you’re interested in doing a weekly blog post about your team, feel free to email Conor Revell at

It was a very exciting and rewarding week for the Lady Lions basketball team. We started off with our JV squad matching up with the girls from Highlands Latin. Our JV team is very fortunate to have three of our varsity girls play with us.

We match up extremely well against other sixth/seventh graders in these games and this contest was no different as we got off to a great start and ended with a 41-10 victory. We were led by Lindsey Spencer (8 points), Kaiden James (12 points), and Reagan DeMuesy (10 points).

Many of these points are scored off of passes from not only each other but other members of the team.  As I am the one that keeps track of our books each game, I’ve tried to keep track of the assists but the action at times is so fast I can easily admit that I’m missing those numbers non-stop so that is something that I need to work on for these players.

We finished our week with our annual trip to Anchorage to battle the Lady Anchors in a varsity matchup.  This game has always been a tough one for us but this year we were able to turn the tables in a big way. The girls played extremely hard.

We got solid contributions in each facet of the game, but this game became special for one special young lady. Sixth grader Allison Spieker had a game that one can only hope for. Known for her outside shooting, she exploded for 21 pts off of 7 of 9 shooting outside the arc. That was a personal career high and possibly a school record for made 3-pointers at LFCA!

A starter since the 4th grade, Allison continues to improve each and every week and at the same time getting the work done in the classroom as a yearly A/B honor roll student. Keeping the books from mid court allows me to watch the parents of these girls and when she shoots everyone just stands with the arms up in anticipation of her shot!

We went on to defeat Anchorage 39-15 and moved to 9-3 on the year.  Feel free to drop me a line for any information regarding our team at or on twitter at @BriansimpsonKY
