Little Flock Christian Academy Blog (week three)

Brian Simpson is the parent of a player on the Little Flock Christian Academy basketball team and is going to do a weekly blog post about the team. If you’re interested in doing a weekly blog post about your team, feel free to email Conor Revell at

We had a slow week basketball wise for the Lady Lions, our varsity game that was scheduled this week was cancelled by our opponent so we focused on our JV matchup with a visit to KCD this past Tuesday!  This KCD team is long and lean, incredible height and reach on them, and at first glance I thought we would have some matchup issues solely based on that alone.

When the game began, we did what we do very well, we just came out pressing our opponent!  Our girls do a great job with their defensive spacing and this sparked us to a very quick early 14-1 lead after the 1st period led by sixth grader Allison Spieker with seven of her 10 points in that 1st quarter. Reagan DeMusey chipped in seven points and also provided the team with some solid defense of her own.

The team rallied behind one of their own as first year player Brytni Murphy decided that this would be the game that she would break into the scoring column. A solid move with the ball and the pull-up from 10-feet in the third quarter started her off and she finished it off with a quick put back in the fourth quarter as we closed out the 32-16 win.  I was very happy for this young lady who has practiced very hard this year. I walked in with her family before the game and even told them that today was going to be her day!
The team is excited to participate in the St Francis Holiday Tournament next week being held at the Old Male HS. We will open up Monday night against Highlands Latin at 6:30 in 1st the first round.  Feel free to come on out to a legendary school and take in some incredible action of all the teams that are participating!
