LIT quarterfinal recap

The Sacred Heart, Manual, Mercer County, and Male basketball teams picked wins the in the quarterfinals of the Republic Bank/Coca-Cola Consolidated Louisville Invitational Tournament at Bellarmine Friday night.

The semifinals are Saturday at Christian Academy. Sacred Heart plays Manual (10 a.m.) in the first semifinal while Mercer County plays Male (11:30 a.m.) in the second semifinal.

Sacred Heart 68, Nelson County 53

The Valkyries used a 20-3 run that spanned the end of the first quarter and the second quarter to put away the Lady Cardinals.

Four Sacred Heart players finished in double figures. Clemons led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds. Kia Sivils added 12 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Erin Toller finished with 11 points, four assists, four steals, and two rebounds. Ashlee Harris chipped in 10 points.

Marly Wells paced Nelson County with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Amelia Hodges also had 16 points and three rebounds while Loren Seely recorded nine points.

Manual 37, George Rogers Clark 35

Tyonne Howard’s layup with 1:18 to play gave the Lady Crimsons a thrilling victory after trailing by as many as seven points in the third quarter.

Jaela Johnson led Manual with 10 points and three rebounds while Nila Blackford added nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

Hayley Harrison led GRC with 15 points while Kennedy Igo added 11 points.

Mercer County 61, Butler 51

Trailing 39-37, Lexy Lake hit a three-point and the Titans never trailed again and would go onto lead by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Seygan Robbins led the Titans with 24 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Emma Souder and Emma Davis both added 10 points.

Jasmine Elder led the Bearettes with 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals. Jabriel Kelly added 10 points while Molly Lockhart recorded eight points and 11 rebounds.

Male 69, Simon Kenton 54

The Lady Bulldogs overcame a 12-2 deficit to come back and win easily. The Pioneers trailed by as many as 18 in the second half.

Ciaja Harbison led Male with 18 points, four assists, and three steals while Cameron Browning added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Morgan Stamper (nine rebounds, four assists) and Shelby Harmeyer both paced Simon Kenton with 18 points.
