Lacrosse Notebook

The lacrosse season is nearing the midpoint of the season and preparations for the postseason will soon begin. Here’s a look at some of the top teams in the area and big games to watch for over the coming days.

Eastern is currently the top lacrosse team in the Louisville area and currently has a 5-0 record, but has not a played a game in the past 10 days. Their next scheduled game is against Manual Thursday.

Sacred Heart is 7-1 and is hoping to make a return trip to the state championship game for the first time since the 2016 season. The Valkyries beat Westminster School (Ga.), Lovett (Ga.), and J.L. Mann Academy this past week.

Three time defending state champ Kentucky Country Day is off to a rocky 4-3 start this season, but scored a 12-2 victory over Collegiate this past weekend and have won four of this past five games after losing their first two contests. The Bearcats also lost to Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio).

Ballard is 5-1, but was unable to play last week due to the wintry weather last week, Manual is 4-1 and recorded a victory over South Oldham this past week, South Oldham is 5-2 and fell to Manual in their only game last week., Oldham County is 2-1, but hasn’t played a game in nine days, and Christian Academy is 3-3 after starting out the season with three consecutive wins.
