LWSN highlights a local native that plays college athletics or college team with former Louisville stars that are every Monday. If you have a suggestion on a female athlete to highlight , send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This week’s feature is on Mercy’s Melissa Collins.
Collins is only a freshman, but she’s the heart and soul of Centre’s batting lineup as she is tearing through D-3 opponents in her first 27 games of her collegiate career.
The Jaguars is hitting a team high .419 with four home runs, also a team high, and has driven in 19 runs, second best on the team.
Collins also has a team high 31 hits, six doubles (tied with three teammates), .743 slugging percentage, and .506 on-base-percentage.
Her three triples, 10 walks, two stolen bases, and 20 runs scored are second best on the team.
The Colonels are currently 16-11, 8-4 in the Southern Athletic Association.
Collins had a great Mercy career and it appears her collegiate career may be just as great.
