LWSN highlights a local native that plays at the collegiate level every Monday. If you have a suggestion on a female athlete to highlight , send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This week’s feature is on former Male softball star Bayleigh Masterson.
Masterson is only a freshman, but she’s shredding her competition apart at Berry College, and has become a feared hitter in the Southern Athletic Association.
The former Bulldog is hitting .398 (sixth in the conference), has blasted eight home runs (first in the conference), driven in 40 runs (first in the conference), a .421 on-base-percentage, .748 slugging percentage (third in the conference), 41 hits (first in the conference), and 32 runs scored (third in the conference).
Berry College is currently 28-4 (13-1 in in the SAA) and is on track to make a long postseason run with Masterson leading the way.
While at Male, Masterson helped guide the Bulldogs to four straight Seventh Region titles and was state runner-up her sophomore and senior year.
