Ballard’s road to a state championship got a lot harder, but it’s not mission impossible, there’s still a chance.

The Louisville Bruins were stunned by Central Hardin 3-1 in the opening round of the Owensboro Health/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament Thursday night.

Central Hardin dropped a 9-0 contest to Ballard just over three weeks ago.

Kaci Goedde tossed a complete game for the Elizabethtown Bruins and allowed one run, five hits, struck out five, and walked none.

Shelby Kelley started for Ballard and gave up three runs, six hits, struck out nine, and walked one.

Kelley was Ballard’s ring-leader at the plate had a hit and an RBI. Alivia Sinnott and Madison Alexander both had two hits.

Angel Ashlock led Central Hardin with two hits Eleecia Hager had a hit and two runs batted in while Emily Bryant had one hit and one RBI and Peyton Beger and Onnica Nichols both had one hit apiece.

Ballard returns to action and will play Pikeville at 12 p.m. EDT Friday.
