Butler loses to East Carter, moves to loser’s bracket

Butler’s state tournament road just got a lot harder with a 2-0 loss to unbeaten East Carter in the opening round of the Owensboro Health/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament Thursday night.

Freshman Sadie Werner threw a complete game for the Bearettes and gave up two runs, one earned, five hits, struck out six, and walked six.

Courtney Abbott led Butler with two hits while Carley Ziegler and Kailey Curtis each had one hit apiece.

Montana Fouts tossed a complete game for East Carter and only gave up four hits, struck out 12, and walked one.

Gracie Robinson led East Carter with one hit and one RBI and Fouts and Graycee Castle and Eden May all had one-hit apiece.
