- Second week of two-a-days, Part One is morning, and afternoons are Part Two.
Second day of two-a-days. Can you say, not as enthused? Reality has set in to a degree, 5:45am is early. And, hard work is hard. Combine the two and you have US, Manual Volleyball 2018.
Easy afternoon. Picture day is always exciting to me. Handing out jerseys makes it official, you are part of this that is us. So, pics, then spirit wear, then a parent meeting. After that it’s PLAY BALL. Good! We are ready.
Last two-a-day of the week. I think they are ready to sleep in a little bit, 5:45 every morning takes it’s toll on you. And we need the rest. But, we do need to practice. And a RARE Friday practice tonight will send this week off the right way.
Friday afternoon practices suck. It’s something we never do because everybody is think Friday night. Or the weekend. But, this has been a short week, and we play our first match August 3rd. So, we practice. Line up work and hitting. And it goes well.
Monday morning at 5:45 a.m. #yuck. Nuff said
So, practice wasn’t as crisp as I would like. Not nearly as focused. I brought them in and talked about ownership. About accountability. About taking care of your own self, and how that helps a team. Hope it helped…..
Running early has been aided by cooler weather. It’s just not as miserable as it was a few weeks ago. Perfect timing! I like it.
Practice was a bit of a grind, but we are looking good at several spots. Of course, to be really good, you have to look good at every spot. Not yet.
Ball handling drills in the Sweatbox (our gym).
Was A/C ever invented? Because they sure didn’t tell the folks here at Manual!!
Scrimmaging. Working in lineups. I pulled some of the sophomores in so we could go 6 on 6. It goes okay, but you can tell we are a team that is made up of a bunch of separate pieces. And, we don’t have a lot of time to pull it together.
