The start of the 2018-2019 season is finally here. Coming off a 9-9 record last year, we were able to win the South District Title, which was a big accomplishment for that team we had. Then we came up short in the City Tourney by losing in quarterfinals. So now, looking to bounce back this season with a better overall record & city tourney outcome in February.
Having played in a couple JCPS jamborees over the past two weeks we got a chance to see where we stand. If we can play with consistent toughness and discipline on offense and defense we have a chance to win another South District Title. In order to make a run at the City Tourney Title we will have to compete with & beat Johnson and Ramsey. Both of those teams flexed their muscles at the jamborees showing everyone it will take a great performance for a full game to beat or compete with them. The next tier of teams is a good group that will have very competitive matchups vs each other this season; Farnsley, Westport, JCTMS, Noe, Barret, Newburg and Meyzeek.
It’s an exciting time around the school as we start the regular season this week vs. Crosby in our season opener on Thursday, November 1st at 4:45pm at Crosby.
This game will be our annual “JCTMS Girls Basketball Alumni Game”. This is something we have done for our season opener over the past few years. I hope we can get a few former players & alumni to show up. It’s always great to see former players come back to see the current team. It’s all about trying to build up the program culture and make it like a family atmosphere for those players. Being apart of the “JCTMS Girls Basketball Family” is what we hope the past, current and future players can take pride in, knowing they were apart of a something special while in middle school.
This Saturday, November 3rd we will play in the Manual HS Showcase. Hoping those who are fans of girls basketball come out and see some of the top teams and players in JCPS this year, here is the schedule:
We will blog each week through our 2018-2019 season.
Go Lady Centurions!
