Coming back from a long Thanksgiving break we had a game vs Farnsley on Tuesday, November 27th. We just didn’t play well from the start and Farnsley came out inspired and hungry, as we loss 37-18. Halftime was 28-12 and just couldn’t make a push to close the lead. We have to take this loss as a learning experience knowing we have to come ready to play and play well each game. The performance was surprising because after two great battles vs Farnsley this year; another down to wire classic was expected. Farnsley was led by their big trio; 7th grade guards A’Niya Haskins and Emaree Gober, and 8th grade forward Ja’La Douglas.
On Wednesday, November 28th we played vs Newburg in a big district matchup and won 36-31 in a very intense game as we are South District rivals. Both us of should meet again in the South District championship in February at end of season. Newburg was led in scoring by their 7th grade duo of Maliah Patrick with 9 points and Serenity Cleaves with 10 points. We were led in scoring by another strong performance by our 8th grade Point guard Alexia Weaver as she finished with 16 points. She came up big knocking down multiple free throws late after being fouled the last few possessions to seal the win.
So after the two games this week our record goes to 4-2. We now move on and get ready for our traditional school rival next week vs Barret Middle. Which will be played on next Wednesday, December 5th at Male HS at 7:15pm.
We will find out the seedings and bracket after next weeks games for the JR QOB tourney which will be played Dec 14-16 at Farnsley Middle and Fairdale HS.
Go Lady Centurions!
