We celebrated our “8th grade Day” as we say farewell to (10) 8th graders this year.

This has been the biggest class of 8th graders since I’ve been at JCTMS.

A few have already stated they plan on playing basketball once in high school while a couple kids turn their focus to the swim team, track and softball.

The JCPS Middle School Post Season play is finally here!
We got off to a very rocky start in the South District Semifinals vs Moore Middle.
We won 46-20.  We came out so flat at the beginning that I decided to pull the starters after the first five possessions. The 1st quarter ended with us trailing 9-3. Then once again trailing at halftime 16-9.  After halftime I think we finally woke up and realized we were in a real game and the 8th grade celebration had worn off as we outscored them 37-4.  We were led in scoring by three players in double figures: 8th graders Alexia Weaver with 17 points and Ma’kiya West with 12 points and 7th grader MaKiya Humphrey with 10 points.

We now have a 12-3 record as we go into the South District Final on Monday, February 11th vs Newburg at 5pm at Stuart Middle. The regular season matchup was a great game that we won 36-31. So we are expecting a great battle and I think it’s going to be the most competitive District Final on that day.

Here are the other District Final matchups.
All of these games will be played at Stuart Middle on Monday, February 11th.

West District Final at 3:30pm
Farnsley vs Lassiter

South District Final at 5:00pm
JCTMS vs Newburg

East District Final at 6:30pm
Ramsey vs Barret

North District Final at 8pm
Johnson vs Noe

Next Thursday, February 14th will be the City Tourney Quarterfinals at Stuart Middle at 3:30pm, 5pm, 6:30pm, 8pm.

Next Saturday, February 16th will be City Semifinals at 9am and 10:30am and Final at 3pm. All games that day will be at Ramsey Middle.
