KCD Lacrosse Blog (Week One)

Pat McAnulty is the head lacrosse coach at KCD and is going to do a weekly blog post about his team. If you’re interested in doing a weekly blog about your team, feel free to email Samantha Stallings at sstallings92@yahoo.com.

We are thankful and excited for the opportunity to share some of our team’s experiences throughout this season.

We certainly have big hopes for this group, as we only lost 3 seniors from last year’s State Championship and we return a very talented and hungry bunch.  I believe our team chemistry might be our strongest asset, as we have great leadership and the players understand their roles and the big picture.

This past weekend, we went on a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina and played two of the top programs in the region in Charlotte Latin and Charlotte Country Day.  As far as I know, it was the first meeting between girls lacrosse programs in the two states, so that was pretty cool.

We came out very flat in the first game and fell behind big early before making a nice comeback in the 2nd half to cut it to 3 before falling 15-8.  The next day, we played with a lot more energy and performed much better only losing by a score of 12-11. We were up late and had chances to add to the lead, but critical turnovers and missed shots did not allow that to happen!  We have a huge week ahead as we play in-state rival Sacred Heart on Thursday; Noblesville (IN) on Friday; Baylor (TN) on Saturday; and, Louisville Collegiate on Sunday. We’ll let you all know how we fare!
