KCD Lacrosse Blog (Week Five)

It has been a couple of weeks since we gave an update, so here we go!

After Spring Break, we had Sacred Heart’s Braveheart tournament, which is a really fun event with a lot of local and a few regional teams.  We played well overall, defeating Cathedral from Indy, as well as Manual, Ballard, and Collegiate leading up to the championship against SHA.  We did not perform very well in that contest and lost 7-4. We could not win draw controls consistently, had too many turnovers, and shot poorly.  It was a good wake up call and I suspect we’ll look a little competent if we see them again.

The following week, we had a great bounce-back game against Eastern (who defeated SHA 2 days earlier), winning 9-6.  We did a lot better on the draw and pulled away in the second half after a sloppy start.

Last week, we played Fern Creek (2nd-year program whose players had great attitudes and worked hard) and also Collins, both of whom are in our Region.  We won those handily and played really well. This past Sunday (yesterday), we defeated Assumption 19-3 on our Senior Night game. We have a really special group of 11 seniors and it was nice to see them recognized.

Our record is 14-5 so far as we enter the final week of regular season play.  Tomorrow we have Indian Hill out of Cincinnati, a team we have lost to by 1 goal the past 2 seasons!  The regular season is almost done and we’ll be the top seed in the Regional Tournament, which is hosted by Eastern this year.  We have a lot of talent and really good team chemistry so we hope we can put it all together for the stretch run!
