Press Release: Kentucky Fillies Elite Track Club, Anitra Allen
The Kentucky Fillies Elite Track Club has one goal in mind: make it to nationals. At the end of the Kentucky AAU District meet last weekend held at the Assumption Green, the 15 young ladies brought home 30 medals overall, bringing them one step closer to their goal. Four runners – Alexandra Allen (8 & Under), Nevaeh Johnson (10 Yr), Veronique Ninamou (11 Yr) and Kaleb McDonald (15-16 Yr) – finished in first place in each of their running events, making them the fastest female runners in their age groups in the state.
Coach Tamika Townsend is determined to get her team back to the National Jr. Olympics for the fourth year in a row. A former Eastern Kentucky University scholarship athlete, she knows the benefit that success on the track can offer. Her aim is to take the team to both USATF and AAU national competitions. The meets run back-to-back starting July 27th in Jacksonville, FL and ending August 8th in Norfolk, VA.
To help offset the financial burden from the costs of two weeks of travel, hotel stays, and meals for these stellar athletes and their families, the team has started a Go Fund Me Page. Their goal is to raise $5000.00 prior to July 27th, the start of the USATF Jr. Olympics in Jacksonville, FL. To donate or share the Fillies’ story, please visit http://www.gofundme.com/kyfillies2015.
