Press Release: Anitra Allen, Kentucky Fillies Track Club

In her first year running, Alexandra Allen has accomplished some amazing things. Training under the leadership of Tamika Townsend with the Kentucky Fillies Track Club, she competed in the 100m, 200m and 400m events at both the USA Track & Field and AAU Track & Field National Junior Olympics. At just seven years old, she was one of the youngest competitors in the 8 & Under age group, often running against girls a year older than her.

But that didn’t stop Alexandra from bringing home four national medals – one in the 200m, one in the 400m, and two in the 100m. That made her one of only two girls in her age group with that distinction.

By the end of the 2015 summer track season, Alexandra had earned the positions of 6th place in the 100m (USATF), 7th place in the 200m (AAU) and 7th place in the 400m (USATF), earning her All-American status and making her one of the fastest girls in the nation.

A bright and hardworking young girl, Alexandra greatly improved her performance over the season, shaving 1.6 seconds off her 100m time from her first clocked race to her best time during the Junior Olympics. She also cut six seconds off her 200m and 14 seconds of her 400m.

As good as she is on the track, Alexandra is equally successful in the classroom. A third-grade student at the Louisville Collegiate School, she is once again among the youngest in her peer group. While attending Coleridge-Taylor Elementary, a JCPS Montessori School, Alexandra was promoted from pre-K straight to first grade, skipping kindergarten. An avid reader and critical thinker, she reads an average of five books a week and enjoys a challenge.

A multi-talented athlete, Alexandra also plays basketball, baseball, and is prepping for the 2015 flag football season with the Louisville YMCA. She and the Kentucky Fillies will be making an appearance to show off their summer hardware at the West Louisville Fun Run, sponsored by the Alpha Lambda Foundation of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., on Saturday, September 5th at Cherokee Park.
