Louisville’s girls’ golf teams competed in regional tournament play on Sept. 29.

In the Third Region, Elizabethtown took home its fourth-straight regional title with a score of 303 to advance to the state tournament. The tournament was played at Heritage Hill Golf Club in Shepherdsville. The Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Tournament will take place Oct. 9-10 at the Bowling Green Country Club.

E-town is the No. 1 team in the state as ranked by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association.

Runner-up Central Hardin shot a 416. The region’s top four scoring individuals will also get a shot at the state title, including two players from North Hardin. No Louisville-area teams or individuals will advance to State next week.

In the Fifth Region, Sacred Heart took its second-straight title with a score of 317. The tournament was played at Weissinger Hills Golf Course in Shelbyville.  Runner-up Shelby County’s score of 341 also earned it a spot at State.

Sacred Heart was led by Ryan Bender, daughter of head coach Leslie Bender. The sophomore shot a 76 to capture the individual title. Shelby County junior Lilly Young placed second with a 78. Sacred Heart will look to capture its fifth-straight state title.

The top four individuals who will advance includes Louisville’s own Molly Bebelaar from South Oldham and Lucy Suo from duPont Manual. Right outside of Louisville, Collins’ Claire Watts also made the cut.
