LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville women’s lacrosse team will begin the 2016 campaign ranked No. 14 in the country in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll.
The road ahead for the Cardinals isn’t easy as Louisville will face five of the country’s top eight teams amongst its seven preseason ranked opponents.
“It’s always nice to be recognized in the preseason polls,” said Louisville head coach Kellie Young. “I give the team a lot of credit for earning that respect from what they accomplished this fall. However, it’s time to work and right now we are focused on our training and preparation for another challenging schedule this season.”
Louisville’s 2016 season will see the Cardinals face off with preseason No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 5 Northwestern, No. 7 Notre Dame, and No. 8 Boston College. The Cardinals will also showcase their abilities against No. 11 Virginia, and No. 12 Duke this spring.
The 2016 season will commence for Louisville with the home opener on Feb. 6 against Marquette at 2:00 p.m.
