LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women’s basketball’s Asia Durr has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, league officials announced on Monday afternoon.
The freshman, who averaged 15.3 points on 54.5 percent shooting and 3.7 assists per game, gave Louisville a constant spark off the bench in three wins last week, including a win over Syracuse, which was ranked in the coaches’ poll. She was chosen by the ACC’s Blue Ribbon Panel – comprised of the league’s media and sports information directors.
Durr connected on a pair of 3-pointers in each of the three games, hit 16-of-18 free throws, and helped the Cardinals (17-5, 9-0 ACC) extend their winning streak to 14 games, tied for the third longest in school history.
She first earned ACC Rookie of the Week accolades on Jan. 18, a day before she was selected as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Freshman of the Week.
Against Syracuse, Durr scored eight of her 16 points in the first period. She went 8-for-9 from the free throw line and added four assists. She followed it with 12 points and five assists and zero turnovers against Clemson. The Douglasville, Ga., native capped the week with 18 points against Wake Forest, including nine in the fourth quarter. She had another strong performance at the free throw line, going 8-for-9, and adding a pair of steals.
In the statistical rankings, Durr is 28th in scoring (11.1), fourth in free throw percentage (.827), and eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (.417). In conference-only games, she is 17th in scoring (13.6), third in free throw percentage (.862), and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (.436).
