Bellarmine University Staff Report
LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The Bellarmine University women’s basketball team is ranked fourth in the Midwest Region in the first set of regional rankings released by the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee.
Ashland is ranked first in the region followed by Lewis, Drury, Bellarmine, Quincy, Ohio Dominican, Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley, Walsh and Michigan Tech.
The regional rankings are important because they help determine seeds for the NCAA Tournament. In Division II, the 64-team format is divided into eight regions and teams must compete within their region. Teams awarded the No. 1 seed in each region are awarded the right to host their regional.
Two more regional rankings will be announced prior to the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field.
