LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women’s basketball team held steady at No. 4 in the Midwest Region rankings released by the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee. In addition, they maintained their position in the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association poll, ranking No. 25 for the second-straight week.

Bellarmine locked up both a first-round bye in the GLVC Tournament and second place in the GLVC East, and will finish the regular season on Feb. 25 at Southern Indiana.

The regional rankings are important because they help determine seeds for the NCAA Tournament. In Division II, the 64-team format is divided into eight regions and teams must compete within their region. Teams awarded the No. 1 seed in each region are awarded the right to host their regional.

One more set of regional rankings will be announced prior to the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field.
