Adam Pruiett, Bellarmine University

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University’s Sarah Galvin has been named first-team All-Midwest Region by the Division II Conference Commissioners’ Association.

The accolade follows the junior forward’s unanimous selection as first-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference. Galvin also was named MVP of the GLVC Tournament.

The Hendersonville, Tennessee, native averaged 17.8 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 51.4 percent from the floor. Those were all team highs as were her 46 steals.

Galvin powered Bellarmine to a 24-4 record, the program’s first GLVC Tournament title and its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2008. In the GLVC Tournament title game, Galvin poured in 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting and hauled in nine rebounds while distributing three assists.

Galvin was joined on the first team by Saginaw Valley State’s Emily Wendling, Lewis’ Mariyah Brawner-Henley and Ashland’s Andi Daugherty and Laina Snyder. In addition, Wendling was named Midwest Region Player of the Year.

The second team consisted of Drury’s Annie Armstrong, Ursuline’s Laney Lewis, Indianapolis’ Princess German, Lewis’ Jessica Kelliher and Northwood’s Jordyn Nurenberg.

Voting was performed by the region’s sports information directors. Players listed on the All-Midwest Region first team advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
