THINK FOR SOME. ALL RIGHT SUZANNE, THANK YOU SO MUCH. FOR DECADES, WLKY HAS HELPED LOCAL CHILDREN FIND FOREVER HOMES THROUGH THE WEDNESDAY’S CHILD PROGRAM. AND THIS WEEK, CHRISTINA MOREIRA INTRODUCES US TO 15 YEAR OLD CASSIE, AN OUTGOING TEEN HOPING TO FIND A SUPPORTIVE, FOREVER FAMILY. I PLAY FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK, CROSS COUNTRY AND I DO BOXING AND KICKBOXING, GIRL, YOU DO IT ALL. YEAH, AND I HAVE BAD KNEES FROM IT. SO 15 YEAR OLD CASSIE IS AN ATHLETE THROUGH AND THROUGH, AND HER ENERGY IS CONTAGIOUS. I’M FUNNY TOO. SO FUNNY. OUTGOING AND TALKATIVE. WHAT ELSE? ANYTHING. I’M VERY HELPFUL. I LIKE HELPING PEOPLE. LIKE MANY TEENS IN KENTUCKY FOSTER CARE, CASSIE HASN’T HAD MUCH STABILITY OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. IT’S SCARY BECAUSE I’VE BEEN IN MULTIPLE DIFFERENT PLACEMENTS. I’M IN MY THIRD RESIDENTIAL. I’M WAITING FOR THE RIGHT FAMILY AND IT’S SCARY BECAUSE I’M LIKE, I’M I’M GOING TO TURN 16 AND NINE MONTHS AND I’M JUST LIKE, I DON’T WANT TO AGE OUT OF FOSTER CARE. CASSIE SAYS SHE WANTS AN ADOPTIVE FAMILY THAT WILL PROVIDE HER WITH UNWAVERING SUPPORT. IT DOESN’T MATTER TO ME. I JUST WANT TO BE IN A FAMILY THAT WILL ACCEPT ME FOR ME AND DOESN’T MAKE ME CHANGE WHO I AM, AND ALSO THAT HAS ANIMALS.
