FAMILY IS OUT THERE. CHRISTINA MORA HAS HER STORY. A SISTER AND A CAT AND A DOG. THAT WAS SOPHIA DESCRIBING HER IDEAL FOREVER FAMILY BACK IN 2021. I’M DOING WELL, JUST THAT IT’S TAKING LONG FOR ME TO FIND A FOSTER FAMILY. SOPHIA IS NOW 12 YEARS OLD. HER HEIGHT HAS SKYROCKETED, BUT SHE IS AS SWEET AND KIND AND OPTIMISTIC AS EVER. I LIKE ARTS AND CRAFTS, COLOR, DRAW, NOTHING MUCH. THIS PRETEEN IS IN THE SEVENTH GRADE. HER FAVORITE SUBJECT IS MATH AND SHE HAS PLANS FOR WHEN SHE’S OLDER. I WANT TO BE A PSYCHOLOGIST. AS OF SEPTEMBER 1ST. SOPHIA IS ONE OF MORE THAN 8100 KIDS IN KENTUCKY. FOSTER CARE, MOST OF WHOM HAVE BEEN IN THE SYSTEM FOR YEARS. BUT SOPHIA HAS WAYS OF STAYING POSITIVE AND LOOKING TO THE FUTURE. We first met Sophia when she was 8-years-old. She is now 12 and continues to hope for a forever family. “I’m doing well, it’s just that it’s taking a long for me to find a foster family,” Sophia said. Sophia’s height has sky-rocketed, but she is as sweet, and kind, and optimistic as ever. “I like arts and crafts, I like to color, draw, nothing much,” she said.Sophia is now in the seventh grade, her favorite subject is math, and she has plans for when she’s older. “I want to be a psychologist,” she said.As of Sept. 1, Sophia is one of more than 8,100 kids in Kentucky foster care, most of whom have been in the system for years.But Sophia has ways of staying positive and looking to the future.“I lift my spirits up or make a funny joke,” she said.Sophia’s care team said she would do well in a family with structure and routine.
