Kentucky Kingdom building new suspension roller coaster
Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville is adding a new roller coaster to its roster, its first since 2019.
Next year, the theme park will debut Flying Fox.
"It'll be a unique coaster to what we have at the park currently, because it is suspended and it will be family friendly. So we're really excited about that. Something that will appeal to all ages," said Logan Sanderson, the marketing manager for Kentucky Kingdom.
A suspension coaster allows the train to hang from the track.
The track will be 1,380 feet long with a max height of 65 feet. At its fastest, it will go 37 mph. Riders will have to be at least 38 inches tall.
According to the park, Flying Fox is inspired by local crop-dusting pilot Jeb Fox.
It will "send riders soaring over a vibrant Kentucky farmland setting" with custom red barn-inspired queue, murals, and audio from Fox himself with a goal of celebrating Kentucky's agricultural heritage, the park said.
Kentucky Kingdom officials said the ride cost about $14 million and is part of a more than $33 million investment committed to the park going into 2026.
While guests wait, the park will return with Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom November 22. It will feature over 1.5 million lights and the largest snow tubing hill in Kentucky.
Season passes for 2026 are now available for current pass holders starting at $65.
