Wednesday's Child hosts holiday party for foster children in Kentucky
WORKS TO MAKE THEIR HOLIDAY WISHES COME TRUE. HOPEFULLY MY ADOPTION GOES WELL. I’M GONNA ASK FOR THAT FOR CHRISTMAS. 13 YEAR OLD ESTEFANY SAKANO SAYS ALONG WITH THE GIFTS THAT WEDNESDAY’S CHILD AND THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HELPED PROVIDE THIS YEAR, HER UPCOMING ADOPTION IS WHAT SHE’S REALLY EXCITED FOR. IT’S REALLY EXCITING KNOWING THAT A FAMILY ACTUALLY WANTS ME FOR WHO I AM AND NOT PEOPLE LIKE WHO JUST GET ME TO, LIKE, BE FAMOUS AND LIKE, LOOK COOL. FEELING SEEN AND HEARD. THAT’S WHAT MAKES THIS HOLIDAY SPECIAL FOR HER. THAT’S AN XBOX. AND FOR 17 YEAR OLD LORENZO BETTS. IT’S REALLY COOL. IT’S SOMETHING THAT I HAVEN’T REALLY EXPERIENCED BEFORE, AND IT’S SOMETHING THAT I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE IN THE FUTURE. FOR SOMEBODY LIKE ME. SUPPORTING KIDS THROUGH WEDNESDAY’S CHILD, NOT JUST BY GETTING THEM PRESENTS FOR CHRISTMAS THAT THEY ACTUALLY WANTED, OR BY LETTING THEM MEET SANTA, TAKE PHOTOS WITH THEM. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT MAKES THESE KIDS FEEL SPECIAL, WHICH IS REALLY IMPORTANT THIS TIME OF YEAR. AND TO BRING POSITIVE EMOTIONS, POSITIVE MEMORIES TO THEIR CHILDHOODS, WHICH ALL CHILDREN SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS AND FEEL SAFE. IT JUST WARMS YOUR HEART. AND THAT’S THAT’S WHY WE DO IT. IT’S UNLESS YOU’VE BEEN IN THIS SITUATION, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT FEELING THEY GET FROM IT. IT’S ALSO A CHANCE FOR THE KIDS TO BUILD CONNECTIONS WITH EACH OTHER. A LOT OF THEM HAVE BEEN IN FOSTER CARE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. UNFORTUNATELY, AND IT’S A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM SOMETIMES TO TO MEET SOME OF THE KIDS THEY’VE BEEN IN OTHER HOMES WITH. AND THESE ARE FRIENDS, AS STEPHANIE SAYS, SHE’LL CHERISH AND HOLD ON TO ONCE SHE LEAVES FOSTER CARE FOR HER FOREVER FAMILY. ALL THESE KIDS HAVE EXPERIENCED DIFFERENT THINGS, AND I’M AND I’M GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE KIDS THAT ARE IN HERE. AND I’M GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE GROW
