YOU’RE WATCHING WLKY NEWS, FOOD, CLOTHING AND CRITICAL SUPPORT. A LOCAL GROUP IS HELPING PEOPLE IN SEVERAL COMMUNITIES WHO HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO TURN IN TONIGHT’S PROJECT COMMUNITY. WE’RE TAKING YOU INSIDE THE LAGRANGE ORGANIZATION THAT’S BECOMING A LIFELINE FOR THOUSANDS ACROSS THE REGION. WE’VE HAD PEOPLE COME AND SAY, HEY, ALL I WANT IS PRAYER. I JUST WANT SOMEBODY TO TALK TO. IN OLDHAM COUNTY, A SMALL NONPROFIT IS QUIETLY MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE FOR THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES IN NEED. ON THURSDAY NIGHTS, WE OFFER A HOT MEAL AND SO FAMILIES CAN COME UP HERE AND REALLY ENJOY A TIME OF TOGETHERNESS. HIGH POINT CHARITABLE SERVICES IN LAGRANGE HELPS PEOPLE IN FOUR COUNTIES, INCLUDING OLDHAM, TRIMBLE, HENRY AND CARROLL. WE HELP WITH FOOD, ASSISTANCE WE HAVE HOT MEALS TO OFFER AND CLASSES ON THINGS LIKE BUDGETING, BIBLE STUDY, ESL. WE REALLY WANT TO SUPPORT THE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY, WRAP OUR ARMS AROUND THEM AND SHOW THEM GOD’S LOVE. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANNETTE BALL SAYS THE PEOPLE WHO WALK THROUGH THEIR DOORS COME FROM EVERY BACKGROUND. SENIORS, YOUNG FAMILIES AND SUDDEN CRISIS. JUST SOME UNFORTUNATE TRAGEDY IN THEIR LIFE THAT THEY DID NOT FORESEE. WE ALL COULD BE, YOU KNOW, ONE TRAGEDY AWAY FROM JUST NEEDING ASSISTANCE. FOR REBECCA BISCHOFF, IT WAS DIVORCED. SHE FIRST TURNED TO HIGH POINT MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS AGO. I TALKED TO AN ADVOCATE HERE AND THEY SAID, WE WILL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO HELP YOU. AND THEY REACHED OUT TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY AND MADE PHONE CALLS ON MY BEHALF TO THE BANK AND HELPED ME SAVE MY HOME, WHICH JUST MEANT THE WORLD TO ME. BISCHOFF SAYS THE HELP GOES FAR BEYOND GROCERIES, OFFERING ADVOCACY, PRAYER AND A STEADY SOURCE OF SUPPORT. I JUST FELT SO LOVED. I FELT LIKE I WAS SURROUNDED BY A NETWORK OF LOVE AND AND ANGELS ON EARTH. THESE PEOPLE HERE ARE AMAZING. IN 2025 ALONE, HIGH POINT DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 20,000 FOOD ORDERS, SERVING MORE THAN 56,000 PEOPLE FROM ITS FOOD PANTRY, AND LOGGED THOUSANDS OF VISITS TO ITS CLOTHING CLOSET. BALL SAYS THAT NEED CONTINUES TO GROW. OUR HOPE IS THAT WE CAN BE A LIGHT IN THIS COMMUNITY, A PLACE TO GATHER, TO CELEBRATE ONE ANOTHER, TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER, JUST TO SHARE THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH OTHERS AND JUST BE A BEACON OF HOPE FOR OTHERS AND SEE FAMILIES REALLY FLOURISH AND THRIVE AND NO LONGER NEED OUR SERVICES. A La Grange organization has become a lifeline for thousands across the region."We've had people come and say, 'Hey, all I want is prayer, I just want someone to talk to,'" said executive director Annette Ball, Highpoint Charitable Services.A small nonprofit in Oldham County is quietly making a big difference for thousands of families in need."On Thursday nights, we offer a hot meal so families can come up here and really enjoy a time of togetherness," Ball said.Highpoint Charitable Services at 424 E. Main St. in LaGrange, Kentucky, 40031, helps people in four counties, including Oldham, Trimble, Henry and Carroll."We help with food, assistance with clothing, household items and we have hot meals to offer and classes on things like budgeting, Bible study, ESL," Ball said. "We really want to support the members of our community. Wrap our arms around them and show them God's love."Ball said the people who walk through Highpoint's doors come from every background, seniors, young families, and single parents, often facing sudden crises."Just some unfortunate tragedy in their life that they did not foresee. Bischoff said the help goes far beyond groceries, offering advocacy, prayer, and a steady source of support.

"I just felt so loved, I felt like I was surrounded by a network of love and angels on Earth. These people here are amazing," Bischoff said.

In 2025 alone, Highpoint distributed more than 20,000 food orders, serving more than 56,000 people from its food pantry, and logged thousands of visits to its clothing closet. Ball said that need continues to grow.

"Our hope is that we can be a light in this community, a place to gather, to celebrate one another, to support each other. Just to share the love of Christ with others and, just be a beacon of hope for others and see families really flourish and thrive and no longer need our services," Ball said.

Highpoint relies on community donations and more than 350 volunteers to keep its doors open.

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. — Tuesday and Thursday
  • 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. — First Saturday of the Month
