US wins its third Olympic gold medal in women's hockey, beating Canada in overtime
The knockout round saw Team USA delivering *** TKO. The Americans routing the Italians here in Milan. The final score, 6-0. It was all America on the ice. Team USA 51 shots on goal. The Italians, they had just 5. Intense game, emotional game in the second period. Um, you know, the crowd was into it, really proud of the way that our group was able to collect ourselves going into the third and. Getting to our identity quickly in the 2nd and just finishing out the game. Yeah, you know, after *** couple of periods I thought we were playing really well and we just wanted to play the game the right way and you know we're here to win *** gold medal, so we're not too worried about running up *** score in *** game like that. We're just trying to build off of each win, each game we've had. We're playing out there like it could be our last game. We're not taking anything for granted and we're building off of each win. I think it's just the way we compete, the way that we have each other's back, and I just think how much fun we have in the room at the Milan Cortina Olympics. I'm Fletcher Mackall.
