Kentucky Derby 152 notebook - Wednesday, April 29
THE PLEASANTLY COOL SIDE GUYS. ALL RIGHT THANK YOU JAY. WE’RE STILL THREE DAYS UNTIL KENTUCKY DERBY. 152 BUT THERE’S ALREADY BEEN A SIGNIFICANT SHAKEUP. SILENT TACTIC IS OUT OF THE RUN FOR THE ROSES. KEN’S HERE WITH WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE RACE. HEY RICK. YEAH NOTHING MAJOR. BUT ENOUGH OF A FOOT ISSUE. THAT TRAINER MARK CASSE MADE THE CALL THIS MORNING. KASEY SAID THAT IT’S LIKE GETTING SOMETHING UNDER A FINGERNAIL, A HOOF ISSUE. THAT SILENT TACTIC HAS DEALT WITH. AND AFTER WATCHING THE COLTS ON THE TRACK THIS MORNING, THE DECISION WAS MADE. THE PREAKNESS IS STILL A POSSIBILITY. IT HAPPENS, YOU KNOW. SO. IT’S KIND OF A IT’S KIND OF THE THE LIFE WE LIVE AND AND. IT’D BE A LOT WORSE. KASEY SAID HE WAS MOST UPSET FOR OWNER JOHN OXLEY, THE 89 YEAR OLD WON THE ROSES 25 YEARS AGO WITH MONARCHOS AND ALSO FOR JOCKEY CHRISTIAN TORRES, WHO WAS SET TO RIDE IN HIS FIRST DERBY. NOW THAT SCRATCH MEANS THAT GREAT WHITE DRAWS INTO THE FIELD. HE’S NUMBER 21 IN YOUR PROGRAM, HE’LL BREAK FROM THE FAR OUTSIDE POST 20, WE’LL HEAR FROM HIS TRAINER IN A FEW MINUTES. IN SPORTS, SILENT TRAFFIC HAD DRAWN POST 13, SO THE HORSES SIGNED A TACTIC. THE HORSES IN POST 14 THROUGH 20 WILL MOVE IN A GATE. SAFFIE JOSEPH SCRATCHED MY MISS MO FROM KENTUCKY OAKS 152 TODAY. THAT IS THE SECOND SCRATCH IN THAT RACE. SO DRAWING INTO THE FIELD IS NIKON. SHE’S TRAINED BY LOUISVILLE NATIVE WHIT BECKMAN. NOW THERE’S ONE MORE ALSO ELIGIBLE THAT ENTERED IN THE OAKS. RESIST. SH
