Two I-65 ramps closed in Louisville ahead of months-long project

Two ramps on southbound I-65 will shut down this week to prepare for work to replace the I-65 bridge over Kentucky and Brook streets.
The off-ramp from southbound I-65 to St. Catherine Street (Exit 135) and the on-ramp from 1st Street (near the Jacob Street intersection) to southbound I-65 closed on May 4.
The 1st Street on-ramp is expected to reopen by August 1, and the St. Catherine off-ramp is expected to reopen late this year.
Additionally, there will be overnight ramp and lane closures along I-65 starting Wednesday night:
From May 6 at p .m. until May 8 at 6 a.m. nightly
- Ramp closure from 1st Street to southbound I-65.
- Lane closures overnight on southbound I‑65 between St. Catherine Street and Arthur Street.
From May 8 at 7 p.m. until May 11 at 6 a.m.
- Northbound I-65 lane closure between Grade Lane and the I-264 interchange.
On-ramps to southbound I-65 from 1st Street at Chestnut Street and 1st Street between Liberty Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard will remain open until the I-65 closure begins June 1 and provide access to I-65.
Drivers will also have a chance to get answers about the project.
The first of two public meetings is set for Tuesday at Manual High School. The second will take place on May 12 at Spalding University's College Center.
Both meetings are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Officials will explain why closing the interstate is needed, what drivers can expect and how to get around during the shutdown.
