THIS MORNING WE’RE GETTING A FIRST LOOK AT THE FINAL NUMBERS PROPOSED FOR JCPS TENTATIVE BUDGET, INCLUDING HOW MUCH THE DISTRICT PLANS TO CUT NEXT FISCAL YEAR. A NEW REPORT FROM JCPS SAYS IT WILL REDUCE RECURRENT EXPENSES BY $150 MILLION. MUCH OF THAT IS COMING OUT OF CENTRAL OFFICE POSITIONS AND DISTRICT WIDE COSTS. 80 MILLION OF THAT WILL GO TOWARD REDUCING THE $188 MILLION DEFICIT THE DISTRICT HAS BEEN FACING. THE REST OF THE MONEY WILL GO TO THINGS LIKE FACILITY AND SALARY IMPROVEMENTS AND BUS REPLACEMENTS. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION WILL TALK ABOUT THE TENTATIVE BUDGET AT THEIR MEETING NEXT WEEK. A new report gives a first look at the final numbers proposed for Jefferson County Public Schools’ tentative budget, including how much the district plans to cut next fiscal year.The report says it will reduce recurrent expenses by $115 million. Much of that is coming from central office positions and districtwide costs.Of that total, $80 million will go toward reducing the district’s $188 million deficit. A new report gives a first look at the final numbers proposed for Jefferson County Public Schools’ tentative budget, including how much the district plans to cut next fiscal year.
