Texas Roadhouse leaving Clarksville mall after decades for brand new building
Texas Roadhouse's first-ever location will close to move into a brand new spot.
WLKY confirmed the restaurant is leaving the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville. It first opened more than 30 years ago—back in 1993.
But it's not leaving town. Buffalo Construction is building a new stand-alone location a little up I-65 next to the Bubba's 33, another restaurant owned by Texas Roadhouse.
Construction is already underway:
"Our Texas Roadhouse Clarksville, IN location will be relocating a short distance down Veterans Parkway and remaining in Clarksville," Texas Roadhouse said in a statement to WLKY. "It is bittersweet to move from the Green Tree Mall location, it’s the one that started it all 33 years ago. We will plan to honor the original location’s heritage in the architecture and design of our new store, which will be 10,000 sq ft. We value the loyal guests and community that helped to shape Texas Roadhouse into what it is today and look forward to continuing to serve our guests in the Clarksville community."
The move isn't great for an already struggling mall.
It's unclear what, if anything, will move into the space.
We also haven't yet confirmed when the location will close, or when the new one will be complete.
Side note: If you see a flyer being shared around social media suggesting the legendary Willie Nelson is performing at the restaurants send off, that is not true at all.
