YES, I’VE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I WAS SIX YEARS OLD. BUT ELIZA SHARES HER PILLOW PROFITS. YES. FOR EVERY PILLOW PURCHASE. I DON’T WANT TO MISS OUT ON FOSTER CARE, FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION. THEIR THEMES THREADED THROUGH THE FAMILY’S LIFE. OUR FAMILY WENT FROM 3 TO 8 IN TWO AND A HALF YEARS. YES, THEY HAVE EIGHT CHILDREN. I HAVE SEVEN SIBLINGS, AND I’M THE OLDEST. MORE ON HOW THEIR LIVES ARE HEMMED TOGETHER. IN A MOMENT. SHE IS A JEWEL. ELIZA’S GREAT GRANDMOTHER, SHIRLEY, TAUGHT ELIZA TO SEW. HER GRANDMOTHER, TANYA, HELPED CREATE THE BUSINESS PLAN. MY MOM AND MY NANA THROUGH MY MANAGERS. AND I CALL MY MOM, MY MOMAGER AND MY NANA MANAGER. FOLD IN SOME COLORFUL DONATED FABRIC IN EACH HAND. STUFFED PILLOW HAS A SIGNATURE MESSAGE FROM ELIZA. YOU ARE LOVED. THAT ONE’S A. THAT ONE GETS PROBABLY SOLD THE MOST. OVER THE YEARS, ELIZA SOLD HUNDREDS OF PILLOWS AND DONATED JUST AS MANY TO FOSTER CARE AGENCIES. MY HOPE AND JOY IS JUST FOR ALL THE PILLOWS THAT GO TO THE KIDS IN FOSTER CARE THAT THEY KNOW THEY’RE LOVED. BACK AT THE WHITE’S FAMILY HOUSE, WE CALL IT OUR JOYFUL CHAOS HERE AT HOME. THAT CHAOS INCLUDES CREATIVE PLAYTIME AND SO MANY SIBLINGS. IN MY LAP. OKAY. ELIANA WAS AN UNEXPECTED FOSTER CHILD. SOCIAL WORKERS BROUGHT HER AT 830 ON A WEEKNIGHT. SHE WAS AN EMERGENCY REMOVAL. AND I SAID, ABSOLUTELY, BRING HER HERE. SHE JUST CLUNG TO ME. IT WAS JUST I COULD TELL SHE FELT SAFE. AND I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THIS WAS NOT GOING TO BE JUST A WEEKEND THING. WHEN THE WHITES MET ELIANA, SHE HAD ONLY ONE POSSESSION. SHE HAD LIKE A LITTLE BACKPACK WITH LIKE A COLORING BOOK AND SOME CRAYONS AND ONE OF MY PILLOWS. ONE OF ELIZA’S ENCOURAGING PILLOWS WAS IN HER BACKPACK. WHAT DOES IT SAY ON IT? THAT TINY PILLOW WITH PASTEL GREEN ANIMALS. AND IT WAS LIKE THIS FULL CIRCLE MOMENT. I WAS CRYING, MY MOM WAS CRYING. MY DAD WAS CRYING. OUR LITTLE GIRL, SHE’S JUST A BLESSING. WE ADOPTED HER LAST YEAR. I JUST LOVE HER SO MUCH. IT’S JUST THE BIGGEST FEELING I’VE EVER FELT IN MY LIFE. A FEELING SHE’S POURED INTO HER PILLOWS. THE WHITES ALSO ADOPTED BROTHER AND SISTER EVERETT AND LAYLA, AND THEY’RE HOPEFUL THEY CAN ADOPT ADDITIONAL TWIN SIBLINGS IN THEIR CARE. OUR HEART IS TO KEEP SIBLINGS TOGETHER. THE FAMILY SAYS THROUGH IT ALL, FAITH HAS BEEN THEIR FIBERFILL THE STUFFING THAT’S MADE THEIR LIVES TAKE SHAPE. IT’S BEEN SUCH A JOURNEY. IT’S ALL GOD. Eliza White, a 14-year-old from Nebraska, spends her weekends selling handmade pillows at craft fairs, but her business model includes having a heart for children."For every pillow purchased, I donate one to a kid in foster care," White said.Foster care and adoption are central themes in the White family's life."Our family went from three to eight in two and a half years," said Kailah White, Eliza's mother."I have seven siblings. I'm the oldest, said Eliza.Eliza’s great-grandmother, Shirley, taught her to sew, and her grandmother, Tonya, helped her create a business plan."My mom and my Nanna are my managers, and I call my mom a 'momager' and my nanna a 'nanager,'" Eliza said, jokingly.Each pillow is hand-stuffed and sewn with colorful donated fabric and includes a signature message from Eliza. Some of the tags read: "You are strong; You are loved." Over the years, Eliza has sold hundreds of pillows and donated just as many to foster care agencies."My hope and joy is just that when these pillows go to kids in foster care, that they know they are loved," Eliza said.The White family’s journey with foster care has come with surprises. One night, social workers brought Eliana, a foster child, to their home."She was an emergency removal. I said absolutely, bring her here," Kailah said.The 2-year-old arrived with only a backpack containing crayons, a coloring book, and one of Eliza’s pillows."She had this little backpack with crayons and a coloring book and one of my pillows," Eliza said."One of Eliza's encouraging pillows was in her backpack," Eliza’s mother said."It was like this full-circle moment. I was crying, my mom was crying, my dad was crying," Eliza said.The Whites adopted Eliana last year."Our little girl has been a blessing," said Kailah.The family has also adopted siblings Everett and Layla and hopes to adopt twin siblings currently in their care."Our heart is to keep siblings together," Eliza’s mother said.Through it all, the Whites credit their faith as the foundation of their lives."It has been such a journey.
