Buechel Farmers Market returns to the Train Depot for second season
SET FOR LOS ANGELES, ATLANTA AND LAS VEGAS. WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN FARMERS MARKET SEASON, AND THAT MEANS IT’S YEAR TWO FOR THE TRAIN DEPOT. WLKY SHAQUILLE LORD EXPLAINS WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR AND THE HOPE TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO MORE PEOPLE IN LOUISVILLE. CERTAINLY THIS FARMERS MARKET HERE AT THE TRAIN DEPOT WILL BE THE PLACE TO BE. I’M JOINED BY THE MASTERMIND BEHIND IT, CITY OF ECO CITY. THIS IS JUST A SAMPLE OF SOME OF THE VENDORS FOLKS WILL BE SEEING ON SUNDAY. YES, JUST A SMALL SAMPLE. WE HAVE OVER 30 BUSINESSES AT EACH MARKET, BUT THEY ROTATE. AND SO LAST YEAR WE HAD OVER 170 SMALL BUSINESSES SHOW UP AT LEAST ONE TIME WITH US, AND WE’RE ON TRACK TO DO EVEN MORE THIS YEAR. ALL RIGHT. TALK TO ME ABOUT SOMETHING VERY INTERESTING. YOU ALL ARE ACCEPTING SNAP BENEFITS. YES THAT’S CORRECT. SO ALL OF THE VENDORS HERE TODAY, EXCEPT FOR THE ARTISTS, THEY CAN ACCEPT SNAP FOR ALL OF THEIR PRODUCTS OR THOSE THAT ARE JUST SPECIFICALLY APPROVED FOR SNAP. SO BREAD, EGGS, BAKED GOODS, MEAT, THEY CAN ALL USE SNAP BENEFITS HERE. ALL RIGHT. TALK TO ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT MAKES YOU ALL DIFFERENT. YES, DEFINITELY. SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT MAKES US VERY DIFFERENT IS WE ARE NOT JUST A FARMERS MARKET, BUT WE’RE A COMMUNITY COMPOUND SPACE. AND WE ARE LOCATED IN A HISTORIC LANDMARK IN LOUISVILLE, THE BEAUTIFUL TRAIN DEPOT. IT’S A HISTORIC LANDMARK. AND WE’RE SO PROUD TO TAKE OVER THE SPACE ONCE ABANDONED AND FIX IT UP. SO IT’S A SPACE FOR ALL. WE’RE VERY INCLUSIVE SPACE, AND WE WELCOME EVERYONE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO COME AND HAVE A GREAT TIME HERE. SUNDAY’S THE PLACE TO BE HERE. THE TRAIN DEPOT FROM TEN UNTIL TWO.
