Kentucky Country Day girls lacrosse team's bond leads to continued success
Kentucky Country Day girls lacrosse has created a one-of-a-kind culture that's carried the Bearcats to 13 consecutive state title game appearances.
This year, KCD is playing for a three-peat in hopes of sending the seniors out on a high note. It's a class that has continued the legacy that is KCD girls lacrosse.
"This group is 67-1 against Kentucky competition in their four years, so that's pretty special," said head coach Patrick McAnulty.
Attending a small school, the seniors have stuck together throughout their early playing days and travel ball. As the team continued to win and grow over the years, the expectations continued to rise.
"We all love each other, and we are all rooting for each other. I just love all my teammates so much, and that's why winning is so much more satisfying," said senior Christine Martin.
"They've been central, they've been really important, and they've done a good job, especially this year," added McAnulty. "We talk a lot about legacy and how they'll be remembered, so they're doing a good job being mentors and helping the younger kids, which is really important. They want to see that pipeline keep going, too."
