POPULAR EVENT WAS AFFECTED BY THE WEATHER. JOYCE NORMAN VENDORS HAD SOME HAD TO MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO KEEP THE MERCHANDISE SAFE AT THE FLORIDA FLEET OUTDOOR VINTAGE MARKET. AND DESPITE THE MORNING RAIN, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE STILL MADE THEIR WAY TO THE WATERFRONT. JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO FIND. IT’S ONE OF THOSE THAT YOU COME DOWN HERE AND JUST START DIGGING. RAIN MOVED INTO LOUISVILLE SATURDAY MORNING AHEAD OF THE FLORIDA FLEET OUTDOOR VINTAGE MARKET UNDER THE INTERSTATE 64 OVERPASS AT WATERFRONT PARK. THE POPULAR MARKET FEATURES HUNDREDS OF VENDORS SELLING EVERYTHING FROM VINTAGE CLOTHING, VINYL RECORDS TO ANTIQUES AND HANDMADE ITEMS. THE WEATHER FORCED ORGANIZERS TO PUSH BACK THE EVENT BY AN HOUR. EVERY SINGLE VENDOR EXCEPT FOR ONE SHOWED UP. AND I THINK WE JUST KIND OF GO WITH THE FLOW RIGHT NOW. WE’VE BEEN SO BLESSED IN THE PAST TO HAVE EXCELLENT WEATHER, AND WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO BE CHALLENGED SOONER OR LATER FROM MANY VENDORS. KEEPING THEIR MERCHANDISE DRY BECAME THE TOP PRIORITY. WE HAD A COUPLE TARPS FOR THE STUFF OUT THERE. WE HAVE A LARGE ROOF HERE, A LOT LARGER THAN A LOT OF PEOPLE, SO WE EXPAND OUT A LITTLE BIT AND. THE GRACE FOR A LITTLE BIT OF THE WEATHER. ORGANIZERS SAY THE ADJUSTED HOURS HELPED GIVE BOTH VENDORS AND SHOPPERS EXTRA TIME TO ENJOY THE MARKET. AFTER THE WEATHER DELAY. I LOVE MEETING THE PEOPLE. I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MUSIC. THEY SEEM LIKE STUFF. ORGANIZERS SAY ABOUT 22,000 PEOPLE ATTEND EACH YEAR, MANY OF THEM LOOKING TO SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS AND SMALL BUSINESSES. MY FAMILY AND I, WE ALWAYS LIKE TO SUPPORT THE ARTS, AND I THINK THAT IT’S EXCITING TO BE ABLE TO SEE ALL OF THAT, AND IT’S VERY REASONABLY PRICED, SO IT’S FUN TO BE ABLE TO GET A PIECE AND THEN HAVE THAT AT HOME. BEING EXPOSED TO A LOT OF THE LOCAL ARTISTS AND A LOT OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WOULDN’T NORMALLY SEE IN OTHER STORES. BOWMAN SAYS EVENTS LIKE THIS GIVE LOCAL ARTISTS A CHANCE TO SHOWCASE THEIR WORK AND KEEP THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT GOING. HOPEFULLY SOMETHING LIKE THIS CAN CAN REALLY CONTINUE.
