Kentucky baseball lands 3-seed in West Virginia Regional
Despite a rough showing in conference play and a first-round exit in the SEC Tournament, Kentucky baseball is playing into the postseason.
The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 31-21 record after falling to Vanderbilt 8-5 in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
Pair that with Kentucky dropping its final two conference series to Florida and Arkansas, and the Wildcats' postseason hopes looked in jeopardy.
But, Kentucky made it into regional play.
Kentucky is the No. 3 seed in the Morgantown, West Virginia, regional. The No. 1 seed is host West Virginia, with Wake Forest as the 2-seed and Binghamton as the 4-seed.
The Wildcats will open regional play against Wake Forest (38-19) at noon on Friday. The Demon Deacons were also knocked out in the first round of their conference tournament, and similar to UK, struggled against Top 25 teams this season.
Regionals are double-elimination brackets, meaning if Kentucky loses twice, they're out of the tournament. If the Wildcats win the regional, they will play in a Super Regional with a trip to the College World Series on the line.
