Spotlight Series Week 3

Guest blogger, JCTMS Girls basketball coach, Michael G. Moore Jr. writes his June entry series of “Spotlight Series” of younger hoopers to be on lookout for in years to come.

Players Name: Brianna Wilkins

Height: 5’8

Position: Combo Guard

Grade: Rising 8th Grader

School: Crosby

AAU Program: F.O.C.U.S. Lady Select

Favorite WNBA Team: LA Sparks

Favorite WNBA Player: Candace Parker

Favorite Women’s College Team: Louisville

In AAU, she is playing up two grades with teammates who are going into 10th Grade next year. With her length and athletic ability she can be versatile playing multiple positions on offense and is an aggressive on-ball defender.

Last season, as a 7th grader, she played for Eastern High School on their varsity team. She had a good season averaging 11.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in her first year of High School Varsity basketball.

As the start of Summer June ball has begun, she is playing with Eastern High School and looking to continue growing her game and gaining valuable experience.  So far, during June she has shot the 3 ball very well.  It’s great to have that type of jump shot threat added to what she brings with her slashing and attacking ability.  She will go into next year with plans of having a huge season.

For those who follow the local girls basketball scene, will continue hearing her name.

As she enters High School this time next year, the sky is the limit on where her game can go and what it can progress into.  She works hard in her training sessions and will continue developing in all aspects of her game.
