A sneak peek at Kentucky Kingdom's newest rollercoaster 'Flying Fox'
Kentucky Kingdom is preparing to open its first new roller coaster in seven years, with Flying Fox scheduled to debut this spring.
The park has started construction, including laying tracks, digging a tunnel, and introducing a train.
"So we're right, reintroducing the suspended coaster back to the park. This will be our 6th coaster," said a park representative.
The $14 million ride will be the park's first new roller coaster since 2019 and is designed to bring generations together.
"It has a lower height requirement at just 38 inches. So, a young child can ride, you know, with an older brother or sister, and then really get the parents involved as well. So it should be a great opportunity for making memories," said Carly Uglow with Kentucky Kingdom.
The ride promises to soar, with guests dipping, diving, and soaring over fields.
"They'll dip and dive and soar over these fields, making sure that, you know, the crops are lively and able to come alive," Uglow said.
Guests asked for a new coaster, and the park answered.
"So this is something to be really excited about, and we can't wait for our guests to be able to ride it this spring," Uglow said.
The project is part of a multi-year investment of more than $33 million, which included the debut of "Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom" and the opening of "Discovery Meadow."
