LEGEND. HOW A LOCAL CIVIL RIGHTS TRAILBLAZER IS BEING HONORED DOWNTOWN. BECAUSE THIS IS THE ORIGINAL TEXAS ROADHOUSE, AND I DON’T WANT IT TO LOSE ITS CHARM. AND A STAPLE IN SOUTHERN INDIANA IS CLOSING ITS ORIGINAL LOCATION AFTER DECADES IN BUSINESS. THE VERY FIRST TEXAS ROADHOUSE IS MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION IN CLARKSVILLE, BUT THE CHANGE IS RAISING QUESTIONS ABOUT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA. JAMIE MAYES JOINS US LIVE IN THE NEWSROOM. AND JAMIE, WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THIS MOVE, RICK? VICKI, THIS RESTAURANT HOLDS A LOT OF MEMORIES FOR PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN INDIANA. AND WHILE IT’S A POPULAR LOCATION AT GREEN TREE MALL, MANY PEOPLE SAY IT MAY BE TIME FOR A BRAND NEW SPACE TO BETTER ACCOMMODATE LARGE CROWDS. BIG CHANGES ARE COMING TO THE TEXAS ROADHOUSE ON LEWIS AND CLARK PARKWAY IN CLARKSVILLE. I USUALLY COME HERE ABOUT TWICE A MONTH. THAT’S. THAT’S HOW MUCH I LOVE IT. THE RESTAURANT’S FIRST EVER LOCATION, WHICH OPENED 33 YEARS AGO, WILL CLOSE AND MOVE TO A BRAND NEW SPOT IN THE CITY. BUFFALO CONSTRUCTION IS BUILDING A NEW STAND ALONE, 10,000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING OF I-65 NEXT TO BUBBA’S 33, WHICH IS ALSO OWNED BY TEXAS ROADHOUSE. AND THE COMPANY SAYS THEY PLAN TO HONOR THE ORIGINAL LOCATIONS HERITAGE IN THE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN. BUT THE RELOCATION HAS SOME PEOPLE WONDERING ABOUT THE FUTURE OF GREEN TREE MALL, WHERE THE RESTAURANT IS CURRENTLY LOCATED. MOST PEOPLE THAT COME HERE USUALLY COME FOR TEXAS ROADHOUSE AND THEN GO AND SHOP AROUND, SO I DON’T KNOW HOW GREEN TREE MALL IS GOING TO BE LIKE. AND WHILE IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHAT, IF ANY, BUSINESS WILL TAKE OVER THE CURRENT SPACE, CUSTOMERS SAY NOTHING COULD REALLY EVER TAKE ITS PLACE. I DON’T THINK TEXAS ROADHOUSE CAN BE REPLACED, BUT I DO THINK YOU CAN BRING BACK SOME OF THE NORMAL STORES BACK INTO THE MALL, AND MAYBE IT’LL COME BACK ALIVE. AND WE’RE STILL WAITING TO FIND OUT WHEN T

The restaurant’s first-ever location, which opened 33 years ago, will close and move to a new spot. The move is drawing mixed reactions from loyal customers. Some say they are sad to see the original location go.“I usually come here about twice a month.
